Due to high demand, there are currently long waits to be seen at our Walk-in Centres at Victoria Central Health Centre and Eastham Clinic and the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC), Arrowe Park site.
Dr Jo Chwalko, Chief Operating Officer said: “The safety of our patients and staff is our top priority and we are doing our very best to treat and care for everyone who visits. We are taking all necessary action to ensure safe and effective patient care and address the current pressures.
“There are a range of other community services that may be a suitable alternative if you feel unwell. Consider your local pharmacy, your GP or visit www.111.nhs.uk before coming to a Walk-in Centre or the UTC.
“You can also check your symptoms online at www.nhs.uk/conditions. If you’re worried about a symptom visit www.111.nhs.uk, you’ll be asked answer some questions and then be advised what to do next. Depending on your symptoms, you might get a callback from a nurse. All this can be done from home.
“If you do need to attend, we would encourage you come to the UTC on the Arrowe Park site, particularly anyone with concerns about Group A Strep.
“We will see you as soon as possible. However, you may face a wait of several hours to be seen. We have provided additional capacity in waiting areas. The safety and care of our patients and staff remain our top priority and we thank you for your patience.”
